Philosophy

I have a passion for helping people become aware and present in their bodies. Pressures and responsibilities in life often have us pushing full speed ahead, rarely pausing to pay attention to what our bodies are telling us and how we are holding onto those stresses. Many times it's not until we have bodywork done that we realize how much those things are keeping us from functioning at an optimal level. It is my goal to help stresses and emotions flow through our tissues and out of our bodies, so they don't weigh us down. Myofascial release especially focuses on how our tissues dehydrate and protect when there's been physical, emotional, or mental stress. These memories get stored in the tissue, and can be released when the tissue is held in a safe and gently way, and encouraged to release.

Why I Do What I Do

I lived most of my life with a disconnect between body, mind, and spirit. When this disconnect finally showed up in full force in my life, there was a powerful pull to all things yoga, dance, and somatic-based therapies. By going into my body, I could finally resolve issues I had not been able to with the patterns of my intellect. This was the only way I could find connection back to myself. I found out that when we reconnect to our bodies and our emotions, healing becomes abundant.

A Little About Me

When I'm not in the therapy room, you can find me on the shores of Lake Superior, contemplating her powerful pull and healing powers. You could also find me cruising through the nearby woods on my mountain bike, or meandering through the lush vegetation on foot. If there is any swing dancing, ecstatic dancing, salsa, Argentine tango, or contra-line dancing happening in town (or out of town), I'm either there in person or in heart! I cat, Cricket, who loves to play! I'm currently in a trauma-conscious yoga teacher training program with Svälja Yoga, finding more ways to hold space for people who have been through many different types of trauma.

I look forward to working with and holding space for you on your healing journey.

Gratitude.
